For those who have not booked an all inclusive 'Packhorse Accommodation Package', the Packhorse offers a unique combination of daily services for independent walkers and cyclists-including car parking, passenger transport and door to door baggage transfer.

Car parking is available for Packhorse customers wishing to leave their vehicle at Kirkby Stephen for the duration of their holiday.

The daily licensed minibus service is available along the entire route; picking up passengers and baggage from all accessible locations along the Coast to Coast Route.
One minibus leaves daily from Kirkby Stephen at 8.30am and travels out West to the start of the trail at St Bees, arriving at 10.15am. This minibus then travels back via the Coast to Coast Route moving on baggage (and passengers) between overnight locations. The other bus leaves Kirkby Stephen at 8.30 am and works its way East through the Dales & the North Yorkshire Moors and on to Robin Hood's Bay. This bus then leaves from oppoaite the Victoria Hotel, Robin Hood's Bay at 4.00 pm (latest) and arrives back at Kirkby Stephen by 6.15pm.

The highly reliable Packhorse baggage services operate from West to East (East-West by arrangement) and provides for Door to Door collection and delivery where ever possible. For any accommodation where we physically cannot collect / deliver (e.g. 'Black Sail' YH & 'Boggle Hole' YH) - you will be advised of alternative arrangements.
As a courtesy, customers using the Door to Door service are advised to inform their accommodations that the Packhorse Minibus will be delivering their baggage.

The baggage service may be booked in advance (preferable) or arranged as late as the evening prior (before 8pm). Where booked in advance, a list of your accommodation will be required along with your booking form.

Dogs and bikes can also be accommodated on the minibus . Where significant number of bikes are involved a dedicated van and/or bike trailer may also be used to transport bikes out to St Bees.

The right bags to the right place, at the right time...every time! When you've finished a long and tiring day's walking or biking and are looking forward to that hot shower or bath - the last thing you want to be worried about when you arrive at your B&B is whether your bags are there! Our 100% dedication to the Coast to Coast route, our meticulous administration and the strict time-tabling of our minibus service means that if you book Packhorse you can rest assured that your bags will be there to greet you. Rarely will your bags be any later delivered than 4.15pm (Kirkby Stephen - last drop for the West Bus), and for the the vast majority of locations - we'll be suprised if you manage to beat us to any of your accommodations.... as any of the B&Bs on route will be pleased confirm. The Packhorse is also the carrier of choice of a number of other Coast to Coast Holiday providers. All Bags for Packhorse transfer are securely tagged with very robust flexible plasic tags attached to your bags with cable ties. If we have your Accommodation schedule in advance we'll provide you with a set of sticky labels (one for each accommodation) to stick on the back of your tags each day. You'll see Red, Blue, Green and Yellow Packhorse bag tags out there - denoting different customer groupings and making them easy for the B&Bs to recognise.

Ennerdale Cat Crag, Black Sail & Boggle Youth Hostels cannot be serviced:

Bags for Ennerdale Cat Crag & Black Sail Youth Hostels are retained overnight and dropped at the next location the following day - so you just need to take your essential overnight gear with you for a night at these Hostels. Bags for Boggle Hole Youth Hostel can be left at Bay Taxis,Robin Hood's Bay for collection.

Please book your baggage transfers as far in advance of your walk/bike ride as possible -

it helps our logistical planning and will allow us to get baggage tags and accommodation

labels out to you in good time. All we need is a booking form with a copy of your

accommodation schedule with dates.

Ad-hoc baggage transfer whilst you are on route may be booked at any time up to

8pm the evening prior (and payment left with you bag for collection).
